Find Your Mentor

Find Your Mentor

Find Your Mentor is a series of one-on-one and group sessions with seasoned IT specialists, aimed at helping beginners navigate their professional journey, choose the right direction, and step into the world of technology with clarity and confidence.

The project is organized by the NGO Tech Builders Ukraine in collaboration with experts from leading tech companies. We believe that direct conversation with a real practitioner is the fastest and most effective way to understand where to go next—and how to avoid common early mistakes.

The Goal of the Initiative:

  • To build a human bridge between those just starting out in IT and those who’ve already walked the path and are ready to share practical experience.
  • To help young people define their specialization, understand the skill sets required in different IT roles, and map out a personalized development plan.
  • To support career switchers—people looking to transition into tech but unsure where to begin.

What Will Participants Gain?

  • One-on-one consultations with mentors from various IT fields — including development, QA, UX/UI, DevOps, project management, analytics, and more.
  • An overview of roles in the tech job market — which specializations are most in demand, where competition is toughest, and where newcomers have the best chances.
  • Practical advice on learning paths — what resources are truly useful, how to build a personal development plan, and what matters in a beginner’s portfolio.
  • Career preparation support — guidance on writing a strong CV, preparing for both technical and soft skills interviews, and optimizing your LinkedIn profile.
  • An open, honest dialogue — with space to ask anything: How do I land my first job? Can I really break into tech without a technical degree? What mistakes do beginners often make?

Who Is This Project For?

  • Students and recent graduates who want to explore whether IT is the right fit and which direction to take.
  • Junior professionals who’ve just entered the industry but are seeking more confidence and clarity in their next steps.
  • Career switchers looking to start fresh in tech after working in a different field.
  • Self-taught learners who lack feedback and want help identifying growth areas or adjusting their path.

What’s Already Happened?

We’ve held several pilot sessions where participants had the opportunity to connect with experienced developers, designers, and HR professionals.
They received personalized advice, actionable next steps — and in some cases, even their first internship or interview invitations.
Many shared that the sessions “put everything into perspective” and “gave them the confidence to move forward.”

Why Join?

Being part of this project means gaining more than just a lecture — it’s real mentorship, rooted in lived experience, open dialogue, and human support.
You’ll be able to ask the questions that matter to you and get practical, honest answers — not generic advice.
It’s also a rare chance to get a look inside the IT industry, move beyond the theory, and understand what to expect in real-life scenarios.
Plus, you’ll meet mentors and peers who may soon become part of your growing professional network.
